Microsoft has released its Windows 8 Developer Preview operating system, for PCs and tablets, to the public as a free download.
Microsoft has made available three different versions of Windows 8 for download (two versions built for 64-bit systems which use new processors and can make use of more RAM, versus older 32-bit PCs that use earlier chips and less memory), which all show up as an ISO file when downloaded.
Windows 8 developer preview has been released for public, now any one can download and do a fresh install of windows 8 as it is right now not supported for virtual machines, but still there are many people who are successful in installing windows 8 on virtual environment like vmware, virtual pc etc. For those who are worried about clean install of windows 8, please note that in order to install windows 8 on your computer you just need a drive with around 20 -25 GB of free space, and you can install windows 8 on that partition without deleting any files on that partition.
However if you want to try out windows 8 developer version, you can download as per your pc from this page. But please mind that this is not the final version of windows 8, but lot more features are going to be added and it still needs to become more stable, as it may crash on your machine. As far as my feedback I m running windows 8 preview since morning it has not crashed even once.
